This morning’s trivia on KOIT:

Q: How many painters are at work on the Golden Gate Bridge at one time?

A: 38.

Ya know, when they were designing the Bridge, the Navy requested that it be painted black with yellow stripes instead of the international orange that coats the bridge today. can you imagine?

The concept sounds great…drive a gas guzzler get big bucks back on a newer more efficient car…while that is true…you have to do your homework to make sure both vehicles qualify for the program…and to make matters worse the EPA just today readjusted the combined mileage figures for some vehicles…so if you think you qualify, you should check again…some mpg has gone up, some down…

So here are some links to help you navigate the sites you’ll need to help you determine if and what you can purchase. Happy car hunting!!!

This morning’s trivia on KOIT:

Q: What year was a second back pocket added to Levi’s jeans?

A: 1901.  FYI, belt loops weren’t added until 1922. I guess up til then people just wore their jeans around their  knees….kinda like the way they’re worn sometimes these days.  And this is local trivia because….?  Well,  just yesterday Levi’s made a deal to keep their headquarters in San Francisco for the next ten years.  For other strangely interesting Levi Strauss tidbits, check this out.

So, you wanna be the next Food Network star? Now there’s no excuse to put off auditioning, because auditions are coming up later this month in San Francisco. If you’re interested, be at the W Hotel at Third & Howard in the city on July 26th from 10-4.  The show is now in its sixth season, and been very good for Sonoma’s Guy Fieri. He won the auditions in 2006, and now has three shows on Food Network.

I fell in love with HBO’s “True Blood” series…I know that vampires are all the rage, with the Stephanie Meyer “Twilight” series being an overnight hit with tweens.

But this is actually a series that I look forward to watching in real time on Sunday nights. What will happen to the romance between human -Sookie Stackhouse and vampire - Bill Compton now that Bill has to parent his progeny? Why is Sam Merlotte trying to leave Bonn Temps and where is he headed? What is MaryAnne? Will Lafayette never come out of the house after dark? And Tara? Only time will tell…

I also understand that Comcast will be streaming HBO and Cinemax shows, movies and other content online to 5,000 subscriber households in a national trial set to start in coming weeks. It is the first time the two premium movie channels will be offering their programs over the Internet to computers. Downloads to mobile devices may come in the future.

Unveiled last month, the venture dubbed “TV Everywhere” by Time Warner and “On Demand Online” by Comcast began with TNT and TBS.

The cable channels will be available through Comcast.net and Fancast.com, Comcast’s video aggregator site supported by advertising. About 750 hours of programming a month initially will be available and expected to increase over time.

Critical to the trial is authentication of viewer as a paying subscriber. Users will be asked to log on with a user name and password. If they are paying for the five cable networks, the system will authenticate them.

The trial includes only Comcast customers of both video and Internet services. In the future, deals will be made with other ISPs, even Comcast rivals such as phone companies.

The HBO and Cinemax trial will include full-length episodes of “Entourage” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as well as movies including “Kung Fu Panda” and “The Dark Knight.”

Subscribers can watch the programs online right after they are shown on television. They also can access a library of older programming.

I can’t wait…Vampires on the go…

What a pleasant surprise watching “America’s Got Talent” to see a young girl, a LOCAL young girl sing an amazing song.

I’m talking about Thia Megia from Tracy. She’s been singing since she was 4 and now 10 years later, you might consider her a veteran of the music business, making her way around the Bay Area singing for the the 49er’s and Giants games…

Check out her video from last night…
