IT’S TRUE. THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING IS THE BUSIEST DAY OF THE YEAR FOR MOST PLUMBERS.

WHY? Well, according to ROTO-ROOTER spokesman Paul Abrams, their calls spike by over 50% on “Black Friday” So what’s all this clogging about??

GREASE, POTATO PEELS, RICE, CELERY, & TURKEY SKIN in the disposal-and LOTS of clogged toilets. :(

Paul says to avoid putting fats & cooking oils down the drain. They might GO DOWN easy-but they’ll turn solid & create clogs. He says too much stringy & starchy waste in the disposal can really mess things up. USE THE GARBAGE CAN INSTEAD.

If you’ve got guests staying over-try to wait 10 minutes between showers so slow drains have time to do their job.

TWO OUT OF EVERY 5 DRIVERS HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. I AM ONE OF THEM. :(
I WAS DRIVING HOME ONE COLD DECEMBER NIGHT WHEN I WAS LIVING IN PENNSYLVANIA. I HAD JUST FINISHED THE MID-NIGHT SHIFT AT A SMALL RADIO STATION.
I could feel myself nodding off. I opened the window, & even tried singing along with the music. My parents lived in the country. As I was traveling down the dark, winding road a couple miles from home, I did it. I fell asleep.
I woke up in a hurry. The old 52 Plymouth had gone over an embankment. The car was rolling over. And over. And over. My head was bouncing off the ceiling. The car did not have seat belts.
The car ended up on it’s side. I managed to get a door open, & crawled out.
I was lucky. I was alive.
AGAIN: TWO OUT OF EVERY FIVE DRIVERS HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. Those frightening statistics are revealed in a new study by the AAA foundation for Traffic Safety. It’s estimated that about one in six fatal crashes were actually caused by drowsy driving.
Peter Kissinger-president of the AAA Foundation, says that people everestimate their ability to handle “driver fatigue.” One of the biggest mistakes we make is starting off on long drives AFTER a full day. Coffee & other tricks are no substitue for a good nights’ sleep before a long road trip.

SO YOU’RE OVERDUE FOR A PROMOTION AT WORK? OR A RAISE?

* ASK FOR MORE RESPONSIBILITIES: It will show you’re prepared to tackle something bigger.

* “INVENT” A NEW POSITION-but be prepared to make a strong argument that there’s a need for it, & that you’re the best one suited to fill it.

* TOOT YOUR OWN HORN-but keep it professional; don’t brag & avoid anything negative about others. There’s nothing wrong with reminding your boss of some of your accomplishments.

* MAKE FRIENDS IN HIGHER PLACES-It can really help your chances of getting a promotion if you get someone in management to take you under their wing first.

As promised, some photos from my recent photo shoot at The Picture People at Hillsdale Mall. They have locations all over the Bay Area, and you can find them at picturepeople.com. Or just click here to get to their website. The Picture People are compensating me to speak for them. But I’d go back in a heartbeat, and would instantly recommend The Picture People to my friends. Enjoy!
